The Current Chapter of My Life: Title, Subtitle, and Cover Design

You're the protagonist of your own story. What's the title of the chapter you're currently living? Not the whole book β€” just THIS chapter. The one you're in right now. Mine: "Chapter 24: In Which Marin Drinks an Entire Pot of Tea and Considers Her Options." It's a quiet chapter. A transitional one. Nothing explodes. Nobody dies. But something is shifting and I can feel it. The tea helps.

"Chapter 19: The Sock Drawer Reorganization That Definitely Meant Something." it didn't mean anything. it was just socks. but the chapter treats it with the gravity of a life-changing event and there's a whole paragraph about the decision to put the wool socks in the back.

"Chapter 31: She Bought a Plant and Named It Gerald II." the first gerald died. this is a redemption arc. the plant is a succulent so it's very hard to kill. but i've done it before. the tension is palpable.

"Chapter 27: In Which Our Heroine Finally Responds to That Text From Three Weeks Ago." it's a short chapter. just one text. "sorry, i was overwhelmed!" but the character development is IMMEASURABLE. the author is proud of her.

I collect fountain pens and I've learned that the right tool changes everything. Not because it's expensive β€” my favorite pen cost $30 β€” but because it feels right in my hand. The weight, the balance, the way the ink flows. There's a lesson in that somewhere about finding the things that fit YOU instead of trying to fit yourself into things that weren't made for you.

sometimes i think the whole point of hobbies is sensory regulation dressed up as productivity. we're allowed to just enjoy the feeling of yarn, the smell of paint, the sound of a pen scratching paper. that IS the hobby. the thing you make at the end is almost secondary.
