The Most 'Me' Object I Own: An Inventory of Personal Artifacts
Not the most expensive thing. Not the most impressive thing. The thing that if someone saw it, they'd go "yep, that tracks."
For me it's a broken clock I keep on my wall that's been stuck at 4:22 for two years. I haven't fixed it because 4:22 is a nice time of day and also because the symbolism of having a broken clock on the wall while I navigate executive dysfunction is... chef's kiss.

a mug that says "world's okayest uncle" which was a gift from my sister. i am not an uncle. i am not even a man. but the energy felt correct.
a little ceramic bowl that i made in a pottery class. it's lopsided. it doesn't hold anything properly. it's objectively a bad bowl. but i made it with my own hands during a period of my life when i couldn't make anything else, and it sits on my desk and holds paperclips and hope.
@lil_pawz "it holds paperclips and hope" is going on my tombstone.
A dinosaur-shaped cookie jar. It roars when you open it. The roar mechanism is broken so it just wheezes. My kids think it's hilarious. My wife hates it. I've never put cookies in it. It just stands on the kitchen counter being a wheezing dinosaur and that's its whole life and I respect that.
a keychain that says "i paused my game to be here." i don't even play video games. i bought it because i felt like it represented my energy in social situations. i am always pausing something to be somewhere. that something is usually just lying in bed.
A sign in my kitchen that says "please don't do coke in the bathroom." I don't have a cocaine problem. I've never had a cocaine problem. I bought it at a thrift store because it was three dollars and it made me laugh so hard I cried in the aisle. Now it's the first thing people see when they walk into my apartment and it's a perfect litmus test for whether we're going to be friends.
a very tiny spatula. it's maybe four inches long. i have never used it for actual cooking. it lives in my pen cup and i use it to stir my coffee. it makes me feel like a giant and that's deeply satisfying.
a frog figurine wearing a tiny mushroom hat. my friend got it for me at a craft fair because they "saw it and thought of me." i still don't know what that says about me but the frog is on my bookshelf and i love him.
a bookmark that says "i read past my bedtime." i have never once used it as an actual bookmark. it sits on my desk as a threat. like "i'm capable of reading past my bedtime. don't test me."
