New space, new thread, same question I ask every community I join: what's the thing your brain won't shut up about right now? For me, it's Stardew Valley again. I'm on my fourth farm. This time I'm doing a challenge run where I can only sell artisan goods — no raw crops. It's forcing me to engage with systems I usually ignore, which is basically my entire personality: doing things the complicated way because the simple way is boring. I'm also deep into reorganizing my digital life. New note-taking system, new folder structure, new everything. The dopamine hit of a clean directory tree is unmatched. Your turn. What has your attention right now? No judgment. The weirder the better.

I'm modding a GameBoy Advance. IPS screen replacement, new shell, rechargeable battery mod. t's my third build and I've finally stopped burning my fingers on the soldering iron. The goal is a GBA that feels like a modern handheld but plays original cartridges. Something about bridging old and new tech scratches an itch nothing else reaches.

Currently on a polymer clay kick. Made 47 tiny mushrooms this week. FORTY SEVEN. I don't know what to do with them. I'm thinking of hiding them around my friends' apartments like a fae creature. Before this it was watercolors. Before that it was learning Welsh on Duolingo. The cycle continues.

I'm cataloging my enamel pin collection. Found a display case at a thrift store and now I'm organizing by color, theme, and 'vibe.' It's incredibly satisfying. Also discovered I have 14 mushroom-themed pins which I didn't intentionally collect — they just kept finding me.

There's something about working with your hands that reconnects you to being human in a way screens never can. I strip rust off old cast iron pans. My friend builds model trains. Another friend bakes sourdough. Different tools, same impulse — making something tangible in a world that increasingly wants everything to be digital and disposable.

@retro_phantom that sounds incredible — I want to see the finished GBA when it's done. @hobby_graveyard_caretaker 47 tiny mushrooms is the exact energy I was hoping for from this thread. @magpie_megan the mushrooms finding YOU rather than the other way around is such a collector mood.

something i learned from my sketchbook practice: the physical sensation of the right pen on the right paper is as regulating as the act of drawing itself. i wonder if that applies to other things too — like, maybe the joy isn't just in the hobby, maybe it's also in the texture and weight and sound of the materials.
