The Superiority of the Little Snack: An Ode to Goldfish Crackers and Friends

I'm conducting very important scientific research. What is the absolute best snack to eat when you're feeling small or just want something that tastes like childhood? My vote: goldfish crackers. Specifically the flavor-blasted cheddar ones. They smile at you. They crunch perfectly. They fit in tiny bowls. This is peak snack engineering and I will not be taking questions at this time.

excuse me but the correct answer is cinnamon toast crunch straight from the box with your bare hands like a tiny raccoon. no bowl. no milk. just chaos.

Apple slices cut into very thin wedges, arranged in a fan pattern on a small plate, with a tiny dollop of peanut butter. Presentation matters. My inner child is a food stylist.

those little mandarin orange cups where the oranges are all soft and sweet and there's exactly one weirdly shaped piece in every cup. that's the lucky piece. you eat it first.

I'm going to say something controversial: dry cereal in a cup with a lid. It's portable. It's crunchy. It feels like a secret. Cheerios are the classic choice but Honey Nut Cheerios are the upgrade.

Dino nuggets. They are the apex predator of the comfort food ecosystem. You can arrange them in little scenes before you eat them. My kids and I make dino families. The tyrannosaurus always goes first.

@dino_nuggie_dad the visual of a grown man arranging dino nuggets into family units before consuming them is deeply healing. thank you for your service.

graham crackers and milk but you have to break the crackers into exactly four pieces each and stack them. it's the law.

After everything that happened with my social media, I've been finding a lot of comfort in very small, very predictable snacks. Right now it's Ritz crackers with that weird cheese spray stuff from a can. I know it's not real cheese. I don't care. It tastes like 1994 and safety.

pretzel sticks dipped in apple sauce. i know it sounds weird. i know. but try it once and you'll understand. the salty and sweet combo is elite.

string cheese peeled into the skinniest possible strips. the thinner the strip the better it tastes. this is scientific fact.
