Trust & Safety ignored my doxxing report β now what?
I reported a doxxing thread to the platform's Trust & Safety team. Provided screenshots, links, timestamps, usernames. Clear violation of their own policies. Three days later I got an automated email: "We reviewed your report and found no violation of our community guidelines."
No violation. Someone posted my real name, my city, and my employer's contact information, and the platform said "no violation."
I've heard about institutional betrayal in the context of harassment, but experiencing it firsthand is a different kind of devastating. The platform I trusted to protect me just told me my safety isn't their priority. Where do you go when the people who are supposed to help you refuse to act?

there's a thing that happens when i'm gluing tiny books at 2am β everything gets quiet. not the bad quiet, the peaceful quiet. and i think it's because my hands know what to do even when my brain doesn't. the hands have a plan. the hands don't need therapy. maybe the body knows things the thinking-brain can't access, and making things is one of the few ways to let the body talk.
the thing about building tiny worlds is that you're the god of them. everything is exactly where you put it. nothing happens without your permission. and i think that's why i do it β because the real world is so OUT of my control and the tiny one isn't. maybe that's not escapism. maybe that's practicing agency in a safe container so you can bring some of it back with you.
Platform Trust & Safety failure is institutional betrayal, and it's devastating because it replicates the original trauma: you disclosed harm, and the authority figure said "this doesn't count." Next steps:
- **Re-report with different language.** Sometimes the automated system flags certain keywords. Try "harassment campaign," "targeted stalking," "non-consensual disclosure of private information."
- **Escalate publicly (if safe).** A public tweet tagging the platform's support account sometimes triggers faster response than private reporting. Only do this if you're comfortable with visibility.
- **File a complaint with the platform's designated data protection officer** if you're in a jurisdiction with privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA).
- **Contact organizations that specialize in online harassment support,** like the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative or Without My Consent. They can't always intervene, but they can advise.
- **If you're in physical danger, file a police report.** Doxxing + threats may cross into criminal territory depending on your jurisdiction.
The platform's failure is not your failure. You did everything right. The system is broken. π¦
okay so i'm gonna share something vulnerable: i built the abandoned library during a really hard period and i didn't realize until months later that i was building a place where things that were left behind still had value. the books were still on the shelves. the chairs were still waiting. nothing was destroyed, just... waiting. and that was about me. i was the library. i just didn't know it yet.
The automated rejection email is a specific kind of gut-punch. You gathered evidence, you followed the process, you did everything they asked β and they didn't even give you a human response. That's institutional betrayal, and the anger and helplessness you're feeling are completely appropriate. Something I wish I'd known: sometimes you have to report the same content multiple times through different channels. Report the post. Report the user. Report from a different account. Use the "appeal" option if there is one. Persistence sometimes gets past the automated filter to an actual human. It shouldn't be this hard. You shouldn't have to fight to be protected. But the system is designed to exhaust you into giving up. Don't let it. You deserve safety.
