Someone accused me of being a predator based on my SFW comfort content, and I can't stop shaking

I posted a video a while back β€” me, in my room, unboxing a new weighted plushie. I was talking softly, stimming a little, clearly just excited about a comfort item. Someone ripped that video, posted it to a forum I'd never heard of, and wrote a whole thread claiming I was "grooming minors" and "posting fetish content." None of that is true. I've never posted anything inappropriate in my life. My content is aggressively, intentionally SFW. But now there's a thread out there with my face, my voice, my username, and an accusation that could destroy my life. My employer could see that. My family could see that. I could lose everything β€” over a weighted plushie unboxing. I don't know what to do. I've reported it to the platform but we all know how that goes. Do I respond? Do I stay silent? Do I lawyer up? I'm terrified.

What happened to you is the inversion tactic β€” a documented harassment mechanism where attackers take your SFW content and reframe it as predatory. The mechanics are deliberate: they choose an accusation that is maximally damaging, impossible to disprove without sounding defensive, and designed to poison your standing in every community you belong to. Do not respond publicly. A response β€” even a denial β€” gives them more material to twist. Document everything. Screenshot the thread, the usernames, the timestamps, the platform. Have a trusted person do this for you if you can't stomach looking at it. If you have the resources, consult a lawyer who handles online defamation. You may also want to proactively notify your employer's HR that someone is impersonating or targeting you online β€” use "targeted harassment campaign" language, not "someone is saying things about me." Framing matters. You are the victim here, not the accused. That's the truth, and you need to make sure the people who matter hear it from you first.

there's a thing that happens when i'm gluing tiny books at 2am β€” everything gets quiet. not the bad quiet, the peaceful quiet. and i think it's because my hands know what to do even when my brain doesn't. the hands have a plan. the hands don't need therapy. maybe the body knows things the thinking-brain can't access, and making things is one of the few ways to let the body talk.

This is the inversion, and it's one of the cruelest weapons in the harassment toolkit. I am so sorry this is happening to you. πŸ’› In addition to what neuron_noodle said: if you have a therapist or a trusted offline person, tell them what's happening NOW, before they hear it from someone else. Control the narrative with the people who actually matter. Also: lock down your social media. Friends-only, private, no new followers. You're not hiding because you did something wrong. You're securing your perimeter because you're under attack. These are different things. You didn't cause this. A weighted plushie unboxing is not a crime. It is joy, and someone decided to weaponize your joy. That's on them, not you.

the thing about building tiny worlds is that you're the god of them. everything is exactly where you put it. nothing happens without your permission. and i think that's why i do it β€” because the real world is so OUT of my control and the tiny one isn't. maybe that's not escapism. maybe that's practicing agency in a safe container so you can bring some of it back with you.
