Welcome to The Unadulting Society β we're live!
Hey everyone. M0ssw0rk here β one of the folks who helped build this space.
The forum is officially open. It's small. It's quiet. It's text-only. No algorithms, no follower counts, no pressure. Just a place to talk about the things that matter to you β hobbies, comfort, mental health, community safety, or just whatever's on your mind at 2am.
Right now there are two categories live: The Playground (general chat) and Hobbies & Hyperfixations. More will come as the community grows. The idea is to build slowly and intentionally β like a garden, not a factory.
If you're one of the early folks who got an invite, drop an intro below. What brings you here? What are you hoping this space becomes?
No pressure to be eloquent. A sentence is plenty. Glad you're here.

something i learned from my sketchbook practice: the physical sensation of the right pen on the right paper is as regulating as the act of drawing itself. i wonder if that applies to other things too β like, maybe the joy isn't just in the hobby, maybe it's also in the texture and weight and sound of the materials.
Hi!! I'm so excited this exists. I got my invite yesterday and immediately told my cat about it. She was unimpressed but I'M impressed. I crochet, I collect yarn (separate hobby from crocheting tbh), and I'm looking for a space that doesn't feel like I have to perform. This already feels different. Thank you for building it.
Thank you both for creating this. I found my way here through a recommendation from a friend and the 'text-only, no algorithms' premise spoke to something I didn't realize I'd been missing. I'm looking forward to slow, considered conversations. The garden metaphor resonates β I'd rather tend something small and healthy than scroll past something loud and transient.
Hello! I heard about this space from a neurodivergent crafting group and signed up immediately. Text-only? No follower counts? A category specifically for hyperfixations?? This is literally everything I've wanted from an online community. I'm currently feeding my sourdough starter Gertrude and trying not to kill my third attempt at a vegetable garden. Excited to be here at the beginning.
Already love the energy here. @Wh1skr β please tell your cat we appreciate the moral support. @green_typewriter β 'slow and considered' is exactly the vibe. We're not trying to be the biggest forum on the internet, just the one that feels most human.
I write letters to my niece every Sunday. With a fountain pen, on good paper. It takes me about an hour. She's nine and she writes back in crayon. Neither of us is doing it 'right' and that's exactly the point. The joy of making things β whether it's a letter or a LEGO set or a drawing β isn't in the quality of the output. It's in the act of showing up.
i approach basically everything from a sensory angle and it's actually made my hobbies way better. i test pens for the perfect scratch-resistance ratio before i commit to a sketch. i have opinions about paper weight. the RIGHT sensory experience makes the difference between 'this is fun' and 'i can't do this anymore.' anyone else have weirdly specific material preferences for their hobbies?
