Songs that feel like a hug. Drop them here.
Not your favorite song. Not the objectively best song. The song that feels like someone wrapping a blanket around your shoulders. The song that makes your shoulders drop three inches when it comes on. The song you put on when you need the world to be softer for a few minutes.
Mine: "Holocene" by Bon Iver. Something about the line "and at once I knew I was not magnificent" makes me feel so small in a comforting way. Like all my problems are also small. Like I can just be a person among people, and that's enough.

"Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + the Machine. specifically the part where the harp comes in. it's like my nervous system just... exhales.
the wii theme music. specifically the mii channel music. i'm not joking. something about that little loop makes my brain chemistry do a full reset.
"Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles. It's the song I sang to my daughter when she was a baby and wouldn't sleep. It's the song I put on now when I can't sleep. It's just... hope in audio form.
"Anchor" by Novo Amor. It's slow and soft and builds so gently you don't even notice until you're already crying. But in a good way. In a "my body needed to release something" way.
the lofi hip hop radio β beats to relax/study to girl. she's not a song, she's a lifestyle. she's been studying for seven years. she never stops. i respect the grind.
@lil_pawz THE MII CHANNEL. you're so right. it's like a warm bath for your brain.
"First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes. I found it right after my diagnosis and it felt like... a new beginning. Like the song was written for someone who just figured out who they were. "I'm glad I didn't die before I met you" β but the "you" is myself. The version of me I finally understand.
"Rivers and Roads" by The Head and the Heart. it makes me cry every single time but in a good way. in a "i'm alive and i love people and that's terrifying but beautiful" way.
"Can't Help Falling in Love" but specifically the twenty one pilots cover. something about the ukulele and his soft voice just makes me feel like everything is going to be okay.
"Saturn" by Sleeping at Last. "you taught me the courage of stars before you left" β i listen to it when i miss people. it makes the missing feel less hollow and more like... remembering. if that makes sense.
